Team F - Party Assignments
From Scarlet: Guild Representative for the parties of Team F
Welcome, loves.
You can call me Scarlet. If you are here then someone, somewhere, has decided you are worthy of guild membership and therefore you’re worthy of my attention.
I’m what you may call a promoted adventurer, the kind that’s seen a few lifetimes' worth of escapades but not quite ready to retire. I don't swing a sword any longer, or crawl through crypts... unless I’m in the mood. These days, I keep to the Forest Inn, which has become a guild outpost. I work directly for the guild and adventurers alike, seeing that all of us profit whether it be by gold or glory.
The Guild keeps me busy at post. I enchant trinkets, craft charms, break curses, and so on. Adventurers come to me when they’re too proud to ask directions... but desperate enough to need them. I help connect Guild members with those who actually keep this place spinning — smiths, trainers, enchanters, and the ones you don’t speak about unless you really need them. I know who to trust, more importantly, who not to. People come to me for gear, guidance, gossip, and sometimes, something a little warmer. If it exists within the Guild, I can point you to it… or arrange something more discreet if needed.
Recently, six anonymous benefactors, shadowed in a mist of secrecy, have each sponsored three parties of adventurers. That makes eighteen parties running missions for people no one ever sees. Fascinatingly cryptic. Their motives?... Unclear. Their coin? ... Unquestionably real. The Guild, ever watchful of an opportunity cloaked in a mystery, sanctioned their involvement — and that’s where I come in.
Bureaucracy often requires go-betweens. I have been entrusted as the liaison for one such cluster of teams — your three distinct parties, each with their own skills and specialties. It is my job to get to know you, learn your strengths and weaknesses. Aid you in whatever way that I can. Distribute information to you from your benefactor and the Guild. Lastly, I will log any non-consumable magic items that you may come across in your adventures. It has been made quite clear to me that this list must be detailed and kept current. The items themselves appear to be yours to do with as you wish, but it is imperative that you log them with me first.
Your benefactor has sent word — not directly, of course. That would be far too easy. I have not met your benefactor and it isn't even my place to know how the information arrives to the Guild. I simply do my job, as do you. I have received pieces of information from the Guild and translated these cryptic directives into something you can actually work with: actionable mission briefings.
These I present to you, the three representatives of the parties:
MISSION 1:
A well-known entrepreneur in Porto del Corvo finds herself without help and in desperate need of assistance transporting a valuable shipment from the port to the city center. Her usual staff—including her husband—have been struck down by a sudden, unexplained illness. With at least one employee already dying and no answers, she is turning to outsiders for aid. With whispers of foul play spreading through the cobbled streets, she’s seeking someone not only capable of making the delivery but also bold enough to uncover the truth behind the strange affliction haunting her business. Your benefactor, for reasons unknown, wishes for one of the parties to complete this mission. Once you have delivered the shipment and hopefully solved this deadly affliction, return through Mannanan's Door and report to me. For this mission, you have been allocated only 5 hours regardless of your success. Time is of the essence—gods speed.
MISSION 2:
A package must be transported from its current location to the Church of Jupiter. Your role is not to question for whom or why—only to act. Discretion is critical. All involved must move in silence; even a whisper in the wrong ear could unravel the operation.
A single clue has been provided to me to guide you to the rendezvous point. We’ve been assured the path is clear—but only to those who know how to follow it. Expect a trail of signs, coded hints, or shadowy contacts. You’ll need to stay sharp, trust your instincts, and move quickly. Find the meeting. Secure the package. Do not fail. Return through Mannanan's Door to report to me. I will collect the package and get it in the hands of the agents who have been tasked to get it to the Church of Jupiter. Your benefactor requires one of the parties to accept this assignment, meet your contact at midday, complete this mission, and return by dawn. May the gods keep you in their favor.
MISSION 3:
The mission at hand is to discreetly investigate the city of Porto del Corvo's lifeblood—its ports. Your contact is a concerned city official and noble of the area. Rumors of corruption abound and swirl through the salt-stained taverns and sea-worn inns, where the walls seem to lean in, listening.
The dark market has begun to flow thick with contraband of late, where barrels hold more than ale, and patrons trade more than stories. The inns and taverns seem to act as a hub for these dealings. The utmost concern is the safety and livelihood of the citizens. Dangerous beasts are one commodity known to be traded in this shadow network. Unregulated trades also generate no taxes to fund the city’s infrastructure and lessen the profits of the honest tradesmen. These factors greatly concern city officials. Time is of the essence to your benefactor. For reasons unbeknownst to us, they wish for one of the parties to take on this task and report their findings to me... in lieu of city officials. Please return through Mannanan's Door and disclose your discoveries to me by midday—any later will arouse unwanted suspicion. May the gods grant you success in your endeavors.
Now then, about the choosing.
The three missions outlined above must be divided among your three parties. You may come to a fair agreement amongst yourselves… or you may haggle, bribe, lie, gamble, threaten, or sweet-talk your way into the mission you most desire. Offer coin, trade favors, or flatter the right people—including me, should you feel so inclined. I’m not cheap, but I do admire creativity.
You have until the final day of this month to submit your party’s choice to me. Should you fail to agree—or worse, bore me—I will assign the missions myself. And I assure you, my methods are neither merciful nor predictable.
The choice is yours—confer, consider, and ultimately select the mission you feel your party is the most capable of completing. Unity in decision is the easiest... but feel free to fight it out amongst each other in whatever way you like—brawl, barter, bribe, gamble, intimidate, or seduce if that's your thing. I like to watch it all. You’ll need to make your decision before I grow weary of your antics and make the decision for you.
